Jackets, coats and the outer layer

The punk jacket is a canvas. Leather, denim or canvas, covered in studs, patches, chains, painted lettering and whatever else accumulated over the years. Boots: combat, platform and everything above

Punk footwear is heavy by definition. Combat boots with lace-up shafts are the foundation. Platform boots and creepers push the silhouette further. Ankle boots, booties and Chelsea boots cover the everyday end, and low cut rangers, Derby shoes and loafers handle the smarter and more mod-adjacent versions of the style.

Knee high boots extend the line for a stronger silhouette, and heels appear for anyone wanting punk elements in a dressier outfit.

Corsets bring structure — overbust and corset top designs, mesh corsets for visible boning, and corset belts for waist definition over a tee or a shirt. Harnesses complete the hardware layer: chest harnesses, bra harnesses, choker harnesses and full body harnesses in leather, synthetic leather and webbing.

Cut-out tops and mesh give you skin and texture without heat. Buckle strap tops give you the hardware without a separate harness.

Hardware, jewellery and accessories

This is where punk personalises. Studded and spiked bracelets, chunky rings, earrings, chains, badges and keychains in alloy and stainless steel. Bandanas and neckwear. Gloves in leather and mesh. Face masks. Hats, head accessories and baseball caps. Cowboy hats for the punk-country crossover, which is more common than people expect.

The order that works: boots first, then a jacket, then bottoms, then hardware. Boots because they define the silhouette and get worn daily. A jacket because it carries the whole outfit and becomes the piece you build on for years. Bottoms — tartan, denim or kilt — because they set the register. Hardware last, because it accumulates naturally and there is no rush.
